Q. If I get accepted into an advanced program do I have to participate in the entire program?
A. Yes. After you have been accepted into either the Semi-Professional or Professional Program it is expected that you register and participate in all technique and choreography classes for that assigned program, unless specified by the studio director. Failure to comply may result in termination from the program.
Q. How old do I have to be to participate in the Advanced Division?
The Landing Dance Centre’s Advanced Division offers programs for dancers ages 6-19.
Q. Is the Summer Intensive mandatory for Advance Division dancers?
A. Yes, all Advanced Division dancers are required to attend the summer intensive, unless specified by the studio director.
Q. How do I know which Advanced Division program is right for me?
A. Not to worry, appropriate levels of classes are determined by The Landing Dance Centre Faculty with the dancer’s best interests in mind. Placement will depend on age, ability and experience. All placements are reviewed for appropriateness, and dancers may be moved, even after the season has started.
Q. When are the Auditions for The Landing Dance Centres Advanced Division?
A. Auditions for The Landing Dance Centre’s Advanced Division are held in May of each year. Please submit your Application to Audition to firstname.lastname@example.org
Q. How many performances and/or competitions does the Advanced Division have each year?
A. The Advanced Division is given the chance to perform 3-7 times a year at different competitions and/ or performance venues. This depends on the studio’s availability and the studio directors’ discretion. Advanced Division dancers may also have opportunities to perform at community events around the lower mainland.
Q. How many performances/competitions do solos/duos/trios have a year?
A. Solo/Duo/Trio performers are given a choice as to which competitions, that the studio has approved, they would like to compete at. Soloist may also be given the chance to attend provincial as well as local opportunities to perform.
Q. What do I do if I have to miss a dance class?
A. The Landing Dance Centre Faculty understands that everyone has emergencies, and needs to miss class once in a while. When this happens, please inform the studio as soon as possible.
Q. How many dance classes am I able to miss?
A. The Landing Dance Centre has an absent policy in place for our Advanced Division dancers. Advanced Division dancers can only miss a total of three (3) choreography classes, if dancers exceed their limit, they may jeopardize their ability to perform in group choreography as well as any solos/duos/trios. Advanced Division dancers are also required to make up any missed technique classes to be eligible for competition and performances.
Q. Does The Landing Dance Centre offer Financial Aid to their dancers?
A. The Landing Dance Centre understands that some dancers may need financial aid and every situation is different. Please contact the studio for more information.
Q. Am I eligible to perform A solo, Duo or trio?
A. Any Advanced Division dancer who wishes to perform solo(s) in genre(s) they have not performed a solo in the previous year at The Landing must audition for each respective genre. The same applies to duos and trios. Auditions for solos/duos/trios are held in May of each year. Please submit your Application to Audition to email@example.com, or contact the studio for more information. If you have a solo/duo/trio in a genre you have already performed in the previous year, no audition is required.
Does The Landing Dance Centre have parking?
Yes we do. The Landing Dance Centre has 15-20 parking spots in front of the building. There is also additional parking along the back of the building.
Q. My Dance Shoes are Dirty, How do I clean them Properly?
A. Canvas shoes can be washed in a Regular washing machine on cold water. Dry on low in a regular dryer only until the shoes are slightly damp. Put the shoes on your feet to finish drying, this way the shoes will form to your feet.
Q. Are there lockers to store my personal belonging while I am in dance class?
A. We have lockers that are assigned at the beginning of the dance season to our Advanced Division Program Dancers. Locker request forms are available starting in September of each year. Additionally, The Landing Dance Centre has cubby space to use in our girls and boys change rooms. These cubby spaces are available to all dancers.
