VGDP Summer

From July 26t visual_6s h to August 13th The Landing Dance Center will launch and host The Vancouver Global Dance Project (VGDP) - the ultimate summer dance experience for the young and passionate dancer and choreographer.

VGDP will be the first youth-based choreographic dance festival and intensive to be held in Vancouver and will provide an exciting series of dance workshops and performances led and performed by choreographers, dance professionals and teachers from across the globe.

VGDP Intensive:

Young dancers will be provided with the full perspective of the contemporary dance world as it is today. During the Dance Intensive aspiring dancers will take part in up to three weeks of fun and intensive training and will take master classes and workshops in contemporary technique, improvisation, choreography and dance history and train in jazz, ballet, tap, hip-hop, modern and contemporary.

In addition to the intensive coaching, dancers will experience a professional choreographer's full creative process and will work with two leading professional choreographers to develop a complete a piece which will be performed at the VGDP Festival Series.

VGDP Youth Choreographic Festival:

The VGDP is also offering young choreographers (ages 12-25) an opportunity to submit original work to our Youth Choreographic Festival. Our expert panel will assess submissions and successful applicants will then go on to receive expert feedback from a designated VGDP mentor, be provided with free studio space to rehearse and develop their piece before performing their piece during the VGDP Performance Series to a live theatre audience.

VGDP Performance Series:

As part of the VGDP young dancers will also take part, both on and off-stage, in the VGDP Performance Series, a showcase of work from intensive participants, young choreographers and professional dance artists and companies from around the world.
