What are evaluations?
Evaluations serve as an opportunity for us to look at every dancer individually and where they are in their journey.
Why do we do evaluations?
At LDC, we believe that each dancer is on a unique and personal journey of self-discovery through movement. Out commitment to nurturing that journey is at the core of our philosophy, and this is precisely why we conduct evaluations as an integral part of our STARS!, Spotlight and Company programs.
Understanding the Dancer’s jouRney
Evaluations serve as a window into the individual dancer. We take this as an opportunity to truly look at YOU the dance and where you are in your dance journey — your experiences, your strengths, and the areas where we can provide growth. This process allows us to appreciate the diversity of our dance community and tailor our programs to meet the specific needs of each dancer to prepare them for the industry path they want to take.
Crafting the Artistic Season
Evaluations also serve as the foundation for crafting the artistic side of our chapter. By understanding the strengths and styles of our dancers, we curate performances that showcase the collective talent and individuality within our community. This artistic collaboration brings a richness to our shows, making each performance a true reflection of the diverse artistic entity that is LDC.
Finalizing Training Track Schedules
Beyond the performances, competitions, additional opportunities, and artistic conversation, evaluations play a crucial role in finalizing our training track schedules. We strive to create a curriculum that challenges and nurtures dancers at every level. The insights gained during evaluations help us refine and personalize our training programs, ensuring that each dancer receives the guidance and support needed to excel in their dance journey. We design our training tracks based on what we see throughout the season in the industry, where the dancers are physically and emotionally, and what we feel is important at that time within their journey
Placement with Purpose
Once evaluations are complete, our Directors carefully analyze the gathered insights to thoughtfully place each dancer into the group that best suits their current skills and aspirations. This intentional placement ensures that every dancer is surrounded by like-minded peers, fostering a supportive environment for growth. We spend COUNTLESS hours in our decisions ensuring we talk through every single dancer and their journey from the time they step foot in the program until the time they graduate.
-
At LDC, we integrate rigorous historical techniques, such as Cunningham, Horton, and Graham, with dynamic performance styles inspired by legends like Powell and Fosse. Our current teaching methodologies provide a unique blend of tradition and innovation, ensuring well-rounded development for every dancer.
-
Dancers at LDC have access to exceptional performance platforms, including the prestigious opening ceremonies of the Invictus Games 2025 alongside Katy Perry and Roxane Bruneau | watch highlights here. These opportunities allow dancers to showcase their talents on a global stage and expand their performance experience and build their professional resume.
-
Our faculty members bring professional credentials and years of experience, guiding dancers to reach their full potential. With a focus on individual growth and personalized instruction, our team fosters both technical excellence and artistic expression.

Recognized for Choreographic Excellence
Our faculty’s commitment to choreographic excellence ensures that every piece is designed with care and intention. With the creative growth mindset, the dancers’ creative process is guided by experienced mentors, void of one-size-fits all choreography. This unique approach empowers dancers to engage with work that reflects their individuality and the artistic vision of their teachers.
We honor artistic integrity, and our choreographers are known for creating innovative works that are regularly recognized at festivals and competitions. Dancers are involved in the entire creative journey, fostering technical growth, performance commitment, and storytelling through dance. Notable recent achievements include Summit Dance Challenge 2024 Junior Encore (Thriller, 23-24 Mini Company) AND Senior Encore (Uninvited, 23-24 Senior Company) winners by long time LDC Faculty Choreographers: Amelia Lee and Mackenzie Carlson.
Dance Power 2025 Choreographer of the Event (Send In The Clowns, 24-25 Mini Company) by Angela Mousseau & Brenna McLaud. Division 3 WINNERS (Big Parade, Senior Performance Contemporary), choreography by Jocelyn Peden.
Summit Dance Challenge 2025 Junior Encore WINNERS (Legacy Crew Hip Hop). Evolve Dance Competition 2025 Senior Dance Down WINNERS (Islands, Senior Company Modern), choreography by Angela Mousseau & Brenna McLaud.
The One Dance Experience Provincial Senior Champions 2023, Evolve Dancedown Winners / Studio Standout Award & Provincials 2023 (Until We Meet Again, 23-23 Senior Company) by Brenna McLaud.
While accolades and recognition are important, LDC’s primary focus is on training the whole person. Our values—integrity, growth, creativity, quality, collaboration, and legacy—are at the heart of everything we do. We believe in nurturing not just talented dancers, but responsible, thoughtful individuals who can carry their artistry forward into the world.
By joining LDC’s Advanced Training Program, you’re not just signing up for dance training, you’re committing to an extraordinary journey of growth, creativity, and performance.
At LDC, we honour the history of dance lineages, while cultivating resilient artists who can thrive on tomorrow’s stage.
