Jillian Ung
JILLIAN UNG was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta. Since her youth, Jillian has discovered her passion for fine arts through her craving for creativity and her desire to be challenged. She studied technical styles such as Jazz, Ballet, and Modern. This lead her to study in London, UK to gain knowledge of the ISTD Modern Associate syllabus to which she began teaching. Through dance, Jillian hopes to inspire others to create their own form of confidence and self-expression.
Throughout high school, Jillian found her love for Hip Hop and Contemporary dance through her high school dance program at Forest Lawn High School. With this breakthrough, Jillian completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts at the University of Calgary in Contemporary Dance and Choreography. She also joined Illfx Education to further her knowledge of Hip Hop and Urban Dance styles including House, Vogue, Waacking, and much more.
With this training, Jillian was able to start pursuing her career in dance by working in the film industry [“Strangers in Love” - Eugenio Hipolitio Music Video], doing live shows [GREY CUP Festival hosted by SHAW], advertisements [GYMVT YYC/YYZ commercial], and tours [REEBOK KBS Spring Break Tour]. She now lives in Vancouver, BC where she hopes to continue perusing her career as a dancer and teacher.
She strongly believes that every teacher/dancer should always be a student first in order to continue growing for themselves as well as their students. She hopes to inspire her students to grow their love for dance just as her many mentors did for her. She can not wait to continue pushing herself and her students through hard work, passion, and of course, lots of fun!
