It’s back and it’s intense! The Landing Dance Centre will play host to a diverse collection of extremely talented teachers, choreographers, performers and producers whose work spans the globe. The intensive faculty will introduce a variety of unique dance styles and skills training including dance for film, audition preparation and performance coaching for elite athletes. VGDP Summer Intensive – Instructors Bios

Channing Cooke || CONTEMPORARY

Channing Cooke, known for her outgoing personality and knowledge beyond her years, is a very hard working and successful entertainer. Having grown up as a studio kid she has a very strong background of technique and training in all styles of dance that range from Ballet and Modern to Jazz, Hip-Hop, and even Acrobatics. Born and raised in Haverhill, Massachusetts, Channing not only met the high demands of the competitive dance world but was also a nationally ranked Cheerleader as well as an extreme athlete. She had her first big break on Fox’s hit television show, So You Think You Can Dance, as she was chosen into the top twenty out of thousands who auditioned. In January of 2010 she made the move to Los Angeles where she is now working as a professional dancer represented by one of the top agencies in the business, Clear Talent Group. From there she booked her first big role where she danced alongside Neil Patrick Harris in the opening number of The 82nd Annual Academy Awards. You will have also seen her on such shows as Dancing With The Stars, in a Macy’s Stars of Dance number, choreographed by Travis Wall, as well as on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Channing has also worked with such artists as Jennifer Lopez, JoJo, and just recently with Florence + The Machine at the 2010 Video Music Awards. Her strengths as a performer have helped develop her passion for teaching and working with younger dancers all over the country.


Jared is a multidisciplinary performing artist and athlete, born and raised in Vancouver. At four years old, he began training in Capoeira, which inspired him to pursue Gymnastics, as well as Singing and Musical Theatre. As a Trampoline and Tumbling Gymnast, Jared has trained across Canada, the United States, England and France. He has represented Canada at three World Age Group Championships, earning two World Cup Silver medals, twelve National Championship medals and three Canadian titles. Along with his athletic career, Jared studied as both a classical and pop/jazz vocalist. Some of his theatre credits include working with The Arts Club, Royal City Musical Theatre, and the Vancouver International Jazz Festival. After graduating high school, Jared began training in Montreal with Cirque Du Soleil, where he became a member of the original recreation of “OVO” the North American tour. As a dancer, he has trained in Toronto, Montreal, New York, and with Vancouver based companies such as KI&Co, Illustrative Society’s Mentorship Program, and at Harbour Dance Centre. In addition to his experience as a hip-hop and contemporary dancer, Jared is known for his unique acrobatic-fusion style, and has had the opportunity to teach throughout Vancouver and Toronto. Jared has continued to explore other crafts and disciplines, expanding his repertoire to include aerial acrobatics, handbalancing and contortion. When not in the studio, on stage or camera, Jared is a psychology student at the University of British Columbia, a dance and tumbling instructor, and a certified personal Trainer.

Aimee Payne || JAZZ

Aimee Payne is a professional dancer born just outside of Toronto and raised in Vancouver, Canada. She has trained and made her mark in many genres of dance. Her talent has taken her across Canada, the United States and Europe as a professional dancer and choreographer. Aimee has carved out a dynamic career that has her in demand in the entertainment industry performing in various professional shows and teaching workshops. She has assisted many of the industry’s best such as Brian Friedman, NAPPYTABS, Blake McGrath, Dave Scott, Gil Duldulao, Cris Judd, Jillian Meyers, Dana Wilson, Kelly Konno, Megan Lawson and Tessandra Chavez. Aimee performed “Rhythm Nation” with the iconic Janet Jackson for the kick-off off her “Unbreakable World Tour”. She has performed with artists such as Nickelback, One More Girl, Johnny Reid, Sharaya J, Bif Naked, FeFe Dobson, Destineak, Big Time Rush, Dallas Smith, and Madeline Merlo. Some of her film and TV credits include XFactor UK, Canada’s Got Talent, Winter Olympics Opening Gala, Paralympics Opening Ceremonies,”Bravetown” featuring Josh Duhamel and Laura Dern, Canada’s National Football League’s Grey Cup championship game half time show performances, and most recently worked with choreographers Mandy Moore and Jillian Meyers on an upcoming TV series. Her versatility and strong talent was recognized when she was awarded Canadian National Tap Champion, as well as the Provincial Champion for the Performing Arts of British Columbia. She has been awarded numerous awards and scholarships throughout Canada and the United States including The Pulse On Tour Protege, NYC Broadway Dance Centre International Student Scholarship, Monsters of Hip Hop, JUMP V.I.P, Dance Educators of America Final Grand Champion, and Triple Threat “Definite Threat”. Aimee’s passion and positive energy has always been a driving force in her career and contributed to her success. She is a true artist. She remains focused on her dream and continues to push towards new heights in a dynamic career within the industry.
